LENGTH IN YEARS

  • 4 years

SEMESTER OF COMMENCEMENT

  • Semester system is divided into 2 regular semesters and a summer session. There are at least 15 weeks of study for the first and second regular semesters, and a summer sessions offers for at least 8 weeks of study.
  • First semester: August to December. Second semester: January to May. Summer semester: June to August.

Qualifications

  • Have at least high school certification emphasize on sciences and mathematics
  • The applicants who have earned Bachelor’s degree in sciences and health sciences not longer than 5 years can wave transfer general education courses, and elective courses.
  • Be able to use English fluently as these considerations:
  • Averaged grade of English course at least of 3.00 from 4.00
  • Oxford Placement Test (Reading and Listening) level at least of A2, or CU- TEP/TOEFL score at minimum of 400, or IELTS score at minimum of 4.00, or TOEIC Reading/Listening score at least of 400.
  • Healthy and have no illness/disease that can be an obstacle for studying and clinical training.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent or passed the Rangsit University English Language Proficiency Test
  • English is used for general education courses and selective courses.
  • English is used for theoretical professional courses, Thai and English is used for all Nursing Practicums.

About the program

  • It’s 4 years program. The program has been approved and accredited by the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council. The teaching and learning methods are conducted mainly in English. However, during clinical practice, students will be helped to use Thai to the patients when appropriate to meet the need of clients and extra Thai language courses are available for International students to improve their Thai language skills.
  • The School has collaboration with several institutions in Finland and Sweden. Therefore, students will be provides the opportunity to go for exchange program in the fourth year for 3 months.

Objectives of the programME

  • The graduates from BNP shall be able to provide nursing care under standards including:
  • Maintain appropriate moral, ethics, and professional competency such respect in human- being, provider nursing care with good manner, and being assertive.
  • Have professional nursing knowledge and related sciences, and be able to apply in nursing care appropriately.
  • Be able to provide nursing care for individual, family, and community who/which has differences in culture holistically by integrating knowledge from evidence-based knowledge, nursing sciences, related sciences, research process, and creating new innovation in order to health promotion, prevention, caring, and rehabilitation under laws, moral, and professional ethics.
  • Have skills in knowledge searching from trustable resources, analysis systematically and reasonably, critical thinking, problems solving based on knowledge creatively both in nursing practices and general situations.
  • Have a good relationship, leadership, and be able to work collaboratively with nursing and multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Being ambitious to learn and develop themselves, profession, and society continuously.
  • Have a good attitude to nursing profession, concern in professional value, and rights of nurses.
  • Be able to use English and information technology in communication and nursing service.

EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES

  • After graduation, students are eligible to take the licensing exam (exam is in Thai) required by the TNC and work in Thailand. Graduates from this program are able to work in international hospitals, nursing homes, and in international health and welfare organizations run by the Government, private companies and NGOs in Thailand and overseas.

Why bilingual nursing program (BNP)?

  • This program has a unique pattern of education, the general education and foundation courses including professional education are taught in English. However, for the nursing practicum, Thai and English is used during clinical training.
  • The benefit of Bilingual Program is to provide the opportunity for international students to learn Thai culture and language which is the fundamental of caring. This is also an important aspect for international students who are interested in working as a nurse in Thailand hospital that provides care and treatment for international patients. Since Thailand is in a developing period of becoming the medical hub of Asia, there is a need of nurses who can use English (or other languages) fluently which currently is in a shortage.
  • Furthermore, this program provides a great opportunity for Thai students who are interested in working as a nurse aboard, be able to increase their English competency and nursing knowledge and skills simultaneously. To work aboard (e.g., European countries and USA), there is a requirement for English competency such as IELTS scores of at least 6.5-7, and TOEFL scores not lesser than 500-550 depending on the recruitment criteria the country. Therefore, it is necessary for Thai students to be fluent in English, and studying in the Bilingual Nursing Program would help improve English proficiency. In fact, most nurses are interested in working abroad because of higher income, good welfare, and a good opportunity to continue studying in a higher education.
  • The BNP is designed as a unique nursing education and it is completely different from other Thai nursing education. The program provides 2 great opportunities for students which are 1) to study abroad as an exchange student, and 2) to achieve the second bachelor’s degree abroad.
  • Exchange Programme
  • students be able to attend this program for 3 months either in Sweden or Finland. The exchange program is a part of selective nursing internship program (SNIP) which focusing on nursing management of providers care for multicultural patients collaborative with multidisciplinary healthcare team. Thus, this exchange program is suitable for those who would like to work in international healthcare services/organizations.
  • Second degree abroad:
  • this program is designed for students who are interested in studying abroad continuously with a shorter time. Before taking this degree, students are required to pass all BNP courses and complete SNIP and then they can apply for this program to gain the second bachelor’s degree. The program takes further 1 year at Southwest South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences, Finland. After graduation, graduates can apply for nursing examination and preparation course for working in Finland.

Work opportunity after graduation from BNP

  • After graduation, the graduates receive bachelor’s degree in nursing sciences (BNS) from Rangsit University. They can apply for Thai nursing license examinations (the examination is in Thai) and can work in Thailand when they receive the license.
  • In case of those who would like to work abroad as a nurse such as in European countries and USA, they can apply for the national nursing license exam of a target country. The license may be in English or other languages, depending on the requirements of a target country or healthcare organization. The hospital or healthcare organization may ask for the documents from School of Nursing Science, RSU to verify that you have fulfilled the nursing knowledge and skills.

Opportunity for a further education

  • The BNP curriculum is designed according to the international standard, thus the graduates from this program can continue studying in a Master’s degree either in Thailand or abroad as well as enrollment for specific courses to gain their nursing specialty and skills.
